Double Glazing Repairs Medway
Got misted glass, a broken handle, smashed double glazing, a faulty lock or a window or door that simply isn't working properly? I'm Tim from TS Glazing and I provide professional double glazing repairs throughout Medway.
With more than 25 years' experience in the glazing industry, I've dealt with all sorts of window and door problems. Wherever practical, I'll look at repairing what's already there before recommending a complete replacement.
Local Double Glazing Repair Specialists in Medway
Hi, I'm Tim. Together with my wife Sam, I run TS Glazing, our family glazing business based here in Medway. Sam looks after the office and our customer enquiries, while I'm out carrying out the repairs, surveys and installations.
One of the things I've learnt from more than 25 years working with windows and doors is that a fault doesn't automatically mean the complete unit has reached the end of its life.
Double-glazed windows and doors contain a number of separate components. Glass units, handles, hinges, locks, mechanisms, seals and gaskets can all fail independently while the main frame remains perfectly usable.
That's why our approach to double glazing repairs in Medway starts with finding the actual cause of the problem.
If a repair makes sense, that's what I'll recommend. If the overall condition means replacement would be a better option, I'll explain that too.

What Double Glazing Problems Can We Repair?
Some glazing faults are immediately obvious, such as smashed glass or a broken handle. Others develop slowly, with windows becoming draughty, misted, difficult to close or increasingly stiff to operate.
We investigate a wide range of window and door problems throughout Medway.
Smashed & Cracked Glass
Damaged sealed glass units can often be replaced independently, allowing us to retain an otherwise serviceable frame.
Misted Double Glazing
Condensation or fogging between the panes is usually a sign that the sealed glass unit has failed.
Broken Window Handles
Loose, snapped, jammed or faulty handles can often be replaced without changing the complete window.
Window & Door Locks
We investigate faulty locks and mechanisms on double-glazed windows and doors, including bifold doors.
Hinges & Alignment
Worn hinges or poor alignment can leave windows difficult to operate, draughty or unable to close correctly.
Seals & Gaskets
Failed or deteriorated seals and gaskets can contribute to draughts and poor performance around windows and doors.
Smashed & Cracked Double Glazing Repairs Medway
Smashed or badly cracked double glazing can look like a complete-window replacement job, but that isn't necessarily the case.
The first thing I'll look at is the condition of the frame and the surrounding glazing system. If these remain serviceable, we may only need to replace the damaged sealed glass unit.
This allows us to remove the broken glass and install the appropriate replacement unit without taking out parts of the window that don't need changing.
The same principle applies to cracked, blown or shattered double-glazed units throughout Medway – we'll assess what's failed before deciding what actually needs replacing.

Broken Window Handle Repairs in Medway
A broken window handle is a common repair, but it's important to look at why it has failed rather than simply changing the handle and assuming the job is finished.
If a locking mechanism has become stiff or the window has moved out of alignment, you may have been putting more force through the handle every time you've opened or closed it. Eventually, the handle can fail.
When I look at a broken handle, I'll also check how the window itself is operating. That helps us identify whether the handle is the only problem or whether there's another fault behind it.
If your handle is becoming difficult to turn, feels loose, has snapped or no longer operates the lock correctly, get in touch before repeatedly forcing it.
Window or Door Not Working Properly?
Tell us what's happening. From handles and locks to misted glass and damaged sealed units, we'll help identify the problem and the most appropriate repair.
Bifold Door, Window & Lock Repairs in Medway
Our repair work isn't limited to standard windows. We also deal with problems affecting glazed doors and their locking systems, including bifold doors.
Doors contain a number of moving components that all need to work together. If the door becomes difficult to close, won't lock correctly or starts catching, the obvious symptom may not be the actual cause.
Depending on the system, the issue may involve the locking mechanism, handle, alignment, hinges or another piece of hardware.
I'll inspect how the door is operating before deciding what needs attention. That gives us a much better chance of addressing the actual fault rather than simply changing a component unnecessarily.
- Bifold doors not locking correctly
- Stiff door handles
- Faulty window locks
- Doors catching or misaligned
- Failed locking mechanisms
- Windows that won't lock securely

Misted Double Glazing Repairs Medway
If your double glazing looks cloudy or there's condensation trapped between the panes, the problem is usually with the sealed glass unit.
This is different from ordinary condensation sitting on the inside or outside surface of the window. If the moisture is between the panes, you won't be able to wipe it away.
Once the seal around a double-glazed unit fails, moisture can enter the space between the panes and the glass may become increasingly misted or cloudy.
Where the surrounding frame is still suitable, we can often replace the failed sealed unit without replacing the complete window.
Failed Window & Door Seals in Medway
Not every double glazing problem involves broken glass or a faulty lock. The seals and gaskets around windows and doors also play an important role in how they perform.
Over time, seals can become worn, damaged, compressed or deteriorated. Depending on the fault, you may notice draughts around a closed window or door, gaps around the opening sash or a change in how tightly everything closes.
It's also important not to assume that every draught is caused by the gasket itself. Window alignment, hinges and installation gaps can produce similar symptoms.
I'll assess where the problem is coming from before recommending the appropriate repair.

Other Double Glazing Problems We See Across Medway
Window problems don't always fit neatly into one category. Here are some of the other issues homeowners across Medway contact us about.

Cracked, Blown & Shattered Units
Whether the damage is obvious or the sealed unit has gradually failed, we'll assess the glass and surrounding window to establish what needs replacing.

Condensation Issues
Where condensation appears matters. Surface condensation and moisture trapped between panes have different causes, so the first step is identifying which problem you have.

Draughty Windows & Doors
Draughts can be linked to seals and gaskets, but hinges, alignment and gaps around the installation can also be responsible.
Can My Double Glazing Be Repaired Instead of Replaced?
This is one of the most common questions we're asked, and the answer depends on the condition of the complete window or door.
If the frame is still sound and the problem is limited to one component, such as a handle, lock, hinge or sealed glass unit, a repair may be all that's required.
If the frames themselves are deteriorating, the windows are very old or several parts are repeatedly failing, replacement may make more sense.
Because TS Glazing carries out repairs as well as replacement double glazing , we can discuss the options based on the condition of what you already have.

Double Glazing Repairs Medway FAQs
What double glazing repairs do you carry out in Medway?
We deal with a range of window and door problems including misted sealed units, smashed or cracked glass, broken handles, faulty locks, hinges, stiff windows, seals, gaskets and windows or doors that no longer operate correctly.
Can double glazing be repaired without replacing the whole window?
Often, yes. If the main frame remains in suitable condition, individual components such as the glass unit, handles, hinges and locking mechanisms can often be replaced separately.
Can you replace misted double glazing?
Yes. If condensation is trapped between the panes, the sealed glass unit has usually failed. Where the frame is still suitable, the failed unit can often be replaced without changing the complete window.
Can you repair broken window handles and locks?
Yes. Handles, locks and mechanisms are common repair jobs. We'll also check whether another issue, such as alignment or a stiff mechanism, may have contributed to the failure.
Do you repair bifold door locks?
We can investigate problems affecting bifold door locking systems and operation. The exact repair will depend on the door system and which component has failed.
Can smashed double-glazed glass be replaced?
In many cases, yes. If the surrounding frame remains serviceable, the damaged sealed glass unit can often be removed and replacement glass fitted in its place.
Why is there condensation between my double glazing?
Moisture trapped between the panes usually indicates that the seal around the glass unit has failed. This is different from normal condensation forming on the accessible surface of the glass.
